I'm updating to Windows 10. Will your software continue to work?

We've become aware of an SensiGuard registration glitch that some people experience when they update to Windows 10. We've investigated the problem and found a solution. So, if you are planning to update to Windows 10, please follow these steps before you run the update:

1. Open SensiGuard and click on "About" in the top right corner
2. Make a note of your registration code, then select "Remove key" and close the program
3. Update your operating system to Windows 10
4. Open SensiGuard again and click on the "Register Now" button
5. Close the Web page that opens (you don't need that page because you already have your license code)
6. Enter your license code and the e-mail address you used to register in a pop-up window that appears
7. Click "Activate" and continue to enjoy SensiGuard

Do I need to launch SensiGuard every time I want to encrypt a file or folder?

No, you do not need to launch SensiGuard every time. You can lock, unlock and shred files and folders with SensiGuard using the context menu that appears whenever you right-click on a file or a folder. Here's how:

  1. Click on the folder or the file you want to protect.
  2. Right-click on it.
  3. SensiGuard’s pop-out menu will appear listing the available options.
  4. Select "Lock", "Unlock" or "Shred" based on your requirements.

Can I protect all my usernames and passwords using SensiGuard?

Yes you can. Just store all of your passwords in a SensiGuard-encrypted folder to keep them protected from hackers. Here's how:

  1. Create a text file on your computer with a relevant name like "Passwords" or "Login details".
  2. Now enter the name of the application/website and your username and password for the application/website. Repeat for each username and password that you want to store in the file. Example: Hotmail – bluesky, password123
  3. Once you have entered all the usernames and passwords that you want to store, save the file.
  4. Open Windows Explorer and right-click on the file. Select SensiGuard from the menu, then select Lock from the sub-menu that appears.
  5. The selected file will be encrypted. When you or someone else tries to open the file, SensiGuard will prompt for the password. Since only you know your password, unauthorized users will not be able to view the information in the file.

What is the SensiGuard USB Flash Drive Vault?

It’s the ultimate flash drive security solution, enabling you to store and transfer files and folders on USB flash drives, pen drives and memory cards safely. Why do I need to shred my files and folders? Why isn’t deleting them enough?

It is important to shred electronic documents just like it’s important to shred paper tax and bank statements, credit card receipts, order confirmations and other documents with sensitive data to protect your personal information. Deleting files is different from shredding them. Files that have been deleted can be recovered from the Windows Recycle Bin or with the help of special recovery software, whereas shredding files with SensiGuard makes them truly unrecoverable.

How to uninstall SensiGuard from my computer?

To uninstall SensiGuard, please go to computer's Control Panel

  • Select "Uninstall a program" or "Add or Remove Programs"
  • Scroll down the installed program list until you find "SensiGuard"
  • Click on "SensiGuard" icon to select if from the list
  • Click on "Uninstall/Change" or "Remove" button. The uninstall progress will begin.

How do I change my password?

To change your SensiGuard password, do the following:

  1. Launch SensiGuard by double-clicking on the SensiGuard shortcut on your desktop.
  2. You will be prompted to enter your password. Type in your password and click OK.
  3. Select "Tools" from the main menu and then select "Change Password" from the drop-down list that appears.
  4. The "Change Password" window will appear.
  5. Enter your current password in the "Old Password" field, your new password in the "New Password" and "Confirm Password" fields, and click OK.
  6. Your password will be changed.

I lost my SensiGuard password. What to do?

First of all, don't panic! You can easily reset your forgotten password. Here is how:

  1. Double click on the SensiGuard icon on your desktop. Alternatively, click on the "Tools" menu item and select "Forgot Password".
  2. Double click on the SensiGuard icon on your desktop. Alternatively, click on the "Tools" menu item and select "Forgot Password".
  3. In the new window enter the correct answers to the three security questions that you selected when you set up SensiGuard.
  4. Click "Next". If all questions were answered correctly, a password reset window will appear.
  5. Enter a new password in the "New Password" and "Confirm Password" fields, and click OK.
  6. Your password will be reset and you will be able to use SensiGuard again.

Important: use this option with caution because all files locked with the previous password will be erased!

How do I send encrypted files to my contacts?

To send encrypted files, you will need to use a feature called Personal Encryption. This feature will allow you to encrypt files using your public key and the key that belongs to the user you want to send a file to. Please note that you will need his/her key to encrypt the file you want to send and they will need to have your public key to open the file.

To encrypt a file using the Personal Encryption feature do the following:

  1. Click on the "Personal Encrypt Selection" button in the program window. Alternatively select the "Personal Encrypt" option from the "Tools" menu or from the SensiGuard context menu.
  2. You will be prompted to select the file you want to encrypt and select the key that belongs to the user you want to share the file with.
  3. The file will be encrypted and only the target user will be able to open the file.
